Our Story
Our journey began with a heartfelt mission to ensure every child has the support they need to thrive, and it continues with unwavering dedication to making a positive impact in their lives.
“Each child belongs to all of us and they will bring us a tomorrow in direct relation to the responsibility we have shown to them.”
-Maya Angelou
Since our founding in 1997, Counseling4Kids has been dedicated to creating a world where every child has the support they need to truly thrive.
We began with a clear mission: to provide crucial mental health services to children in Los Angeles County’s Foster Care system, addressing the urgent need for healing from abuse and neglect.
Starting small with just eight therapists serving 25 clients, we were pioneers in offering a clinic-without-walls model, bringing compassionate care directly into the homes of those who needed it most. This innovative approach allowed us to connect with children in a familiar environment.
Over the past 27 years, our commitment has only grown stronger. Today, Counseling4Kids extends its services to all Medi-Cal eligible children across Southern California, not just those in foster care. We now support over 700 clients annually at our two locations and have expanded our efforts to include parent workshops, community days, and mental health education. Our goal is to reduce stigma and foster a culture of understanding and support.
Our journey is driven by a vision of a world where every child receives the care and encouragement they need to reach their full potential. We’re proud of the progress we’ve made and are excited to continue working towards a future where every child can thrive.
